As voted on by fans, the squad favors players from the two MLS conference leaders, MLSSoccer.com reported. Donovan and Beckham join defenders Omar Gonzalez and Sean Franklin from the Los Angeles Galaxy, who top the Western Conference. East-leading New York Red Bulls have three representatives on the squad, with defenders Rafa Márquez and Tim Ream in addition to Henry.
Chris Wondolowski of the San Jose Earthquakes is one of three first-time selections to the All-Star team. He is joined by Portland Timbers captain Jack Jewsbury and Brek Shea of FC Dallas.
Kasey Keller of the Seattle Sounds is the All-Star goalie for the third consecutive year.
Red Bulls coach Hans Backe will serve as coach of the All-Stars and will have final say in choosing starters for the game. He also will select players to flesh out the roster; they will be announced on July 18. The team will include two selections by MLS commissioner Don Garber, to be announced on July 16.
The MLS stars and Manchester United will play at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J.
Man U brings a standout lineup for the game, which is part of its summer tour of the United States. Among players on its roster are Mexico Gold Cup hero Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Owen and Nani.
